I was really looking forward to dinner last night. I love homemade spaghetti sauce! I think my Nana’s recipe is the best I have ever eaten. I couldn’t’ wait to have it again. I made everything up last night. Measured out how many cups of sauce the recipe makes so I could figure out the calorie count per cup. I figured out it was 200 calories per cup.

I decided to use Healthy Harvest Spaghetti because it was the lowest calorie spaghetti I could find. The box said 2 oz. is the serving size which is 170 calories. I didn’t think anything of it until I weighed 2oz of spaghetti only to realized that my 12 year old stepdaughter eats more than 2oz. of spaghetti! Seriously this is a serving size? According to whom? Who really only eats 2oz?  I found humor in the fact that 2oz of spaghetti fits into a ½ cup measuring cup.

A serving size!

I was so bummed after seeing that!

1 cup of sauce 1 serving of spaghetti (which by the way would have been way too much sauce for this amount of spaghetti) and ½ of asparagus would total 410 in calories!

How depressing!

I ended up eating the sauce and the asparagus and not the spaghetti noodles! I guess I won’t be eating spaghetti for a very long time…
